So What About the Earrings? PLUS EXTRA

1. they’re silver

2. i like em.

4. there is much evidence to support it is a choice not obligation. example off (YUP, Im SUNNI!)

As salaamu ‘alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh,

As salaatu was salaamu ‘alayka Ya Sayyidina Ya Rasulullah,

It is said that wearing earrings are haraam for men. Not only this but also necklaces and so on. After asking Scholars and fellow brothers and sisters, it seems to be that these are based on old fatwa’s that were based upon lack of information on some issues. The reasons given for these pieces of jewelry being haraam and my thoughts on them are:

1) “It is agreed upon by the scholars, that it is unlawful for men to adorn themselves with any type of jewellery besides a silver ring”

This seems to be a bit contradictory since we have taweez with necklaces given to use by Shuyukh, fancy watches etc.

2) “Earrings are (still) generally considered a type of adornment for women and even in the West they were originally worn by those men who wanted to imitate women. Imitating women intentionally is considered unlawful in Islam.”

This isn’t true. Many men wear earrings as a normal thing. Also, they have been worn by men for thousands of years which the Sheikh hasn’t mentioned, therefore how can it be imitating women?

3) “Wearing earrings is a custom that developed and is generally prevalent among non-Muslim men, and imitating non-Muslims is also impermissible.”

We also wear jeans, shirts, ties, caps and these are all prevalent amongst non-Muslim men and part of their culture. Are we all supposed to go around in thobes?
4) can women wear jeans or not

I was just wondering what other brothers and sisters think about this inshaaAllah ta’ala .

Walhamdulillahi Rabbil ‘alameen.

Please note THERE IS LOTTA OF EVIDENCE TO SUPPORT THE OTHER SIDE AS WELL.  I received several comments back from sunniforoum, but none will cite quiran, sunna, sharia or fiqh?

I gotta do more research, BUT THEY STAY FOR NOW. HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
